Donald F. Plumb, MD"My goal is to provide each person with a quality experience at EHNW, and make sure that they understand what we are doing for them and that we are committed to giving them the best care possible."

Dr. Plumb is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with a wide-ranging expertise. He performs many different types of surgeries including LASIK, eyelid reconstruction and tear duct surgery. With over thirty-five years in practice, Dr. Plumb brings a wealth of experience to his patients. His practice has evolved over the years to incorporate the latest technology and innovations in medicine. "I have always been of the philosophy that I do not want to slow down. I will work full bore and then not show up one day-that will be the day I retire."

Dr. Plumb is dedicated to EHNW's mission to offer comprehensive eye care with the highest quality services. He believes that the only way to succeed in that mission is to have "good doctors with good training who are personable and like what they do". Dr. Plumb meets and exceeds his own description for success.

He exudes a calm confidence that engenders patient trust. His focus on quality patient care and satisfaction is evident in the time that he spends listening carefully to his patients. He takes an equal amount of care in explaining complex information to his patients in a way that they can understand. This is what has enabled him to develop long-term relationships with his patients. He has seen some for 35 years.

For years, Dr. Plumb volunteered significant time in medical politics. He served as President of the Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology, and Delegate and Member of the Board of Trustees of Oregon Medical Association. More recently, he has focused his attention on two priorities: work and family. "I like to do a few things really well."

Dr. Plumb has been married to his wife, Sharon, since 1964. He and Sharon adore gardening and have created an outdoor oasis. In fact, their yard was featured in a special edition of Good Housekeeping. Not only is their yard beautiful but it is kid-friendly with plenty of room for their grandkids to play and explore with a zip line and creek. Their family of three children and seven grandchildren spend many weekends hanging out at the family abode. On a typical weekend, he is catching tadpoles with the little ones. And later, everyone gathers to enjoy wood-fired pizza from the outside oven.

Outside of work and family, he has a singular passion. "My main avocation is and always has been antique cars. I love the history and want to help keep it alive outside of a museum." He is longtime member of the Horseless Carriage Society. He has built his own personal work garage and carriage house for his early automobiles, though he does not get to use it as much as he would like. In the future, he looks forward to more time in his "playpen for my second childhood".
